COMMUNITY GUIDELINES

Memoirs to Millions

Effective Date: January 1, 2026

Last Updated: January 1, 2026

WELCOME TO THE COMMUNITY

Memoirs to Millions is a space for writers using AI tools to preserve their life stories. We're building something unprecedented: a community that embraces technology while honoring the deeply personal nature of memoir writing.

These guidelines ensure our community remains:

  • Supportive and encouraging

  • You request a refund within 30 days of your initial purchase

    Ethical and authentic

  • Respectful and inclusive

  • Focused on quality and growth

By participating in Memoirs to Millions, you agree to follow these Community Guidelines.

1. CORE VALUES

1.1 Authenticity Over Automation

AI is a tool, not a replacement for your story.

✅ Use AI to help you draft, organize, and refine

✅ Add your personal voice, experiences, and emotional truth

✅ Review and edit all AI-generated content

❌ Don't pass off raw AI output as finished work

Your memoir should sound like YOU, not like ChatGPT.

1.2 Progress Over Perfection

This community celebrates:

✅ Rough drafts and works-in-progress

✅ Vulnerability and honest struggle

✅ Learning and improvement over time

✅ Small wins and consistent effort

You don't need to be perfect. You just need to keep moving forward.

1.3 Community Over Competition

We're all on this journey together.

✅ Celebrate other members' wins

✅ Offer constructive, encouraging feedback

✅ Share what's working for you

✅ Ask for help when you're stuck

There's room for 10,000 memoirs. Your success doesn't diminish someone else's.

1.4 Honesty Over Hype

Be real with yourself and others.

✅ Share both successes and challenges

✅ Admit when something isn't working

✅ Ask genuine questions

✅ Give honest (but kind) feedback

Authenticity builds trust. Trust builds community.

2. AI ETHICS & USAGE STANDARDS

2.1 Use AI Ethically

DO:

✅ Use AI to overcome writer's block

✅ Use AI to generate first drafts or outlines

✅ Use AI to edit and refine your writing

✅ Use AI to organize your thoughts

✅ Be transparent about your AI usage (when asked)

DON'T:

❌ Claim AI-generated content is 100% human-written (when it's not)

❌ Use AI to fabricate events that didn't happen in your life

❌ Copy other people's stories and use AI to rewrite them

❌ Use AI to generate content that violates copyright

❌ Rely solely on AI without adding your personal voice

2.2 The "Human Touch" Rule

The 30-day guarantee is designed for new members to try the Service risk-free. Once you've renewed:

  • You've already experienced the Service for 6+ months

  • You had the opportunity to cancel before renewal

  • You received the full benefit of your previous membership period

2.3 How to Avoid Unwanted Renewals

Before posting content in the community, ask yourself:

1. Have I reviewed and edited this AI output?

2. Does this sound like me, or like a robot?

3. Have I added personal details only I would know?

4. Would someone who knows me recognize my voice in this?

If you answered "no" to any of these, keep refining.

2.3 Fact-Check AI Content

AI tools sometimes "hallucinate" (make up facts).

Your responsibility:

✅ Verify dates, names, and events in your memoir

✅ Don't let AI invent details about your life

✅ Correct factual errors in AI-generated drafts

✅ Double-check historical facts or references

Example:

❌ BAD: AI says you graduated in 1995 (when it was 1994)

✅ GOOD: You catch and correct the error

2.4 Disclose AI Usage (When Publishing)

When you publish your memoir:

  • Some platforms require AI disclosure

  • Readers appreciate transparency

  • It's the ethical thing to do

Sggested disclosure:

"This memoir was written with the assistance of AI tools, which helped me organize my thoughts and refine my writing. The stories, experiences, and voice are authentically mine."

3. POSTING & SHARING CONTENT

3.1 What to Share

✅ WELCOME:

  • Chapter drafts for feedback

  • Outlines and story structures

  • Personal wins and milestones

  • AI prompts and workflows that worked for you

  • Book covers, titles, and launch announcements

  • Helpful resources and tools you've discovered

❌ NOT WELCOME:

  • Raw, unedited AI output (without human refinement)

  • Spam or self-promotion for non-memoir products/services

  • Political rants or divisive content

  • Off-topic discussions (unless in designated areas)

  • Other people's work (without permission)

3.2 First Readers Circle - Posting Guidelines

When posting chapters for feedback:

Include:

1. Title of your chapter

2. 1-2 sentence context (e.g., "This is Chapter 3, where I describe my first day in the military")

3. Specific feedback request (e.g., "Does this opening hook you?" or "Is the pacing too slow?")

4. Acknowledgment of AI use (e.g., "Drafted with Claude, refined by me")

Word count: Keep posts to 1,500-2,000 words for feedback (roughly 1-2 chapters)

Frequency: Limit feedback requests to 1 per week per member (so everyone gets attention)

3.3 Feedback Etiquette

When giving feedback:

✅ DO:

  • Start with what worked ("I loved the opening line...")

  • Be specific ("The pacing in paragraph 3 feels slow")

  • Offer suggestions ("What if you started with the action scene?")

  • Be encouraging ("You're making great progress!")

  • Focus on the writing, not the person

❌ DON'T:

  • Be harsh or cruel ("This is terrible")

  • Rewrite their work for them

  • Focus only on negatives

  • Give feedback without reading the full excerpt

The Golden Rule: Give feedback the way you'd want to receive it.

3.4 Respect Intellectual Property

Your work:

  • You own all rights to your memoir

  • Posting in the community doesn't transfer ownership

  • You can remove your posts anytime

Others' work:

  • Don't copy other members' stories

  • Don't share someone else's work outside the community without permission

  • Don't use someone else's writing as your own

AI-generated content:

  • Understand that AI outputs may not be copyrightable in some jurisdictions

  • Ensure you add sufficient human authorship to your work

  • Consult a lawyer if you have specific copyright concerns

4. PARTICIPATION & ENGAGEMENT

4.1 The "Give 2, Get 2" Rule (First Readers Circle)

For every chapter you post for feedback, give feedback to 2 other members.

This ensures:

  • Everyone gets meaningful reviews

  • No one is just "taking" without giving

  • The community stays active and engaged

We'll track this with badges:

🌟 Active Reader: 5+ reviews given this month

💎 Super Reviewer: 10+ reviews given this month

4.2 Attendance (Memoir Labs)

Live labs are valuable because you're there.

If you attend:

✅ Show up on time (or within 10 minutes)

✅ Participate actively (ask questions, share insights)

✅ Be present (not just lurking)

✅ Respect others' time (don't dominate the conversation)

If you can't attend:

✅ Watch the replay

✅ Post your takeaways in the comments

✅ Apply what you learned

Consistent no-shows without engagement may lose priority access to future sessions.

4.3 Asking Questions

There are no stupid questions.

✅ Ask if you're stuck

✅ Ask if you don't understand a tool

✅ Ask if you need clarification

✅ Ask if you want feedback

But before you ask:

  • Search the community to see if it's been answered

  • Check the Tool Vault for tutorials

  • Be specific about what you need help with

Good question:

"I'm trying to use Claude to draft my Chapter 2, but it keeps going off-topic. Anyone have a prompt that works better for staying focused?"

Less helpful question:

"Claude doesn't work. Help."

5. PROHIBITED BEHAVIOR

5.1 Zero Tolerance

You will be immediately banned for:

❌ Harassment or bullying (targeting, attacking, or demeaning other members)

❌ Hate speech (racism, sexism, homophobia, transphobia, ableism, or discrimination of any kind)

❌ Sexual harassment (unwanted advances, explicit content, or inappropriate messages)

❌ Threats or violence (threatening harm to yourself or others)

❌ Doxxing (sharing someone's private information without consent)

❌ Impersonation (pretending to be someone else)

❌ Fraud or scams (attempting to defraud members or the community)

No warnings. Immediate removal.
